Focus and Scope

Revista Universitaria de Historia Militar (RUHM) is a biannual scientific publication of international scope dedicated to the study of war, violence, the military world and public order. It is, in fact, the first journal in this field in the Spanish-speaking world implementing a peer review system.

We are open to the reception of monographs, articles, bibliographic essays and reviews in which the military and/ or war in any of its multiple aspects may either be present as a background or have a central place in the analysis, with a special preference for works framed within the coordinates of social and cultural history. There are no further restrictions regarding the time-space framework: works ranging from Prehistory to the present day will be accepted, while additionally aiming to extend to the maximum the spectrum of geographical settings under study.

The RUHM imposes no limitations either with respect to methodological approaches, so long as the submitted texts are set in state-of-the-art perspectives and debates within their fields. In this sense, any contributions from social, cultural, economic, political, military, diplomatic-international or gender fields will be welcome, including analysis from comparative, transnational and global perspectives. The aim of this journal is to promote a dialogue between experts from different regions of the globe and varied academic traditions, so that every new issue may offer an updated sample of the main advances in the fields of military history and strategic studies. Ultimately, it is about pointing out the value of war studies and integrating them within the main debates and inquiries of the Spanish-speaking academic community.
